Italian fascist "socialists" call for the destruction of Ukraine

Former Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus says that the European Union has betrayed Ukraine: "European Union lacks determination to support the pro-European protesters in Kiev and take retaliatory steps against Russia". Not only Ukrainians have been betrayed by the EU, of course. The same can be said about the people of Syria. Yet in both cases the Russian factor has played a crucial role.

I already wrote how the European extreme right supported the Russian imperialist agenda in relation to Ukraine. A few days ago, thanks to Giovanni Savino, an expert on Italian and historical Russian nationalisms, I have discovered yet another pro-Russian lobbying group in Italy, "Stato & Potenza", an allegedly socialist, but intrinsically fascist neo-Eurasianist sect.

First of all, some examples of their anti-Ukrainian propaganda:

"Russia was born in Kyiv. Kyiv is a terrotory of the Russian Federation"
"Gangs who called themselves nationalists were present in Ukraine even in 1945. The NKVD sent them to the GULAG"

"Defend Kyiv. Defend Eurasia"

"In support of the annexation of Ukraine to the Russian Federation"

So, who are these Italian "socialists" who are glorifying the atrocities of the NKVD and GULAG, as well as calling for the Russian invasion in Ukraine? First of all, they seem to be a fascist sect influenced by Russian fascist and neo-Eurasianist Aleksandr Dugin.

As their publications imply, the activities of Stato & Potenza are funded by the following organisations which - to a lesser or greater degree - represent the interests of authoritarian and totalitarian states:

  • The Economic Club of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan)
  • The Italy - Mongolia Association
  • International Academy for the Mongolian Studies
  • The Association of Italy - North Korea Friendship
  • Belarusian State Economic University
Moreover, Stato & Potenza is closely associated with Claudio Mutti, editor of the extreme right journal Eurasia. The late Nicholas Goodrick-Clark, one of the major researchers of the far right, described Mutti as a self-styled “Nazi-Maoist”, an “admirer of Islamic fundamentalism and Franco Freda’s brand of armed right-wing terrorism to provoke revolution”, “a Muslim convert and Third Positionist” who combined “anti-Semitism with virulent anti-Westernism”.

Apart from editing Eurasia, Mutti also runs a publishing house named "Edizioni All’insegna del Veltro", which has published books by fascists and anti-Semites such as Igor Shafarevich, Julius Evola, Savitri Devi, Corneliu Codreanu and others. Mutti is also involved in the workings of the Mediterranean Centre of the Eurasian Studies (CeSEM) which promotes the idea of the Russia-led Eurasian Union. CeSEM is also funding the activities of Stato & Potenza. In his turn, Mutti's activities seem to be funded, in particular, from Kazakhstani and Chinese sources; at least this is suggested by the activities he is engaged in:

From right to left: Li Xiaoyong, Director of the Press Office of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Italy, Claudio Mutti, and Taissiya Shayeva, General Secretary of the Honourary Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Umbria.

Since the early 1990s, Mutti has been collaborating with Russian fascist Aleksandr Dugin, and published Dugin's books in his Edizioni All’insegna del Veltro.

Aleksandr Dugin and Claudio Mutti

Dugin, who inspired Stato & Potenza, is a rabid anti-Ukrainian "thinker", who has been promoting the idea of the destruction of Ukraine since the mid-1990s. In his Foundations of Geopolitics, Dugin wrote:
The sovereignty of Ukraine represents such a negative phenomenon for Russian geopolitics that it can, in principle, easily provoke a military conflict. [...] Ukraine as an independent state with some territorial ambitions constitutes an enormous threat to the whole Eurasia, and without the solution of the Ukrainian problem, it is meaningless to talk about the contitental geopolitics. [...] Considering the fact that a simple intergration of Moscow with Kyiv is impossible and will not result in a stable geopolitical structure [...], Moscow should get actively involved in the re-organisation of the Ukrainian space in accordance to the only logical and natural geopolitical model.

Stato & Potenza has clearly adopted Dugin's and Russian imperialists' agenda towards Ukraine, and is trying to push this agenda in Italy.

As it now becomes increasingly clear, Ukraine is falling prey to the pro-Eurasian, anti-EU propaganda articulated by the European extreme right closely linked to Russian and Eurasian funding bodies. While the EU is doing very little to help Ukrainians in their fight for democracy and sovereignty, Russia is engaged in a covert full-scale war against the Ukrainian people and - ultimately - Europe and democracy.
